The CAW Application is on www.caw.org. It isn't the pretty version, but it's useable. CAW is a neo-pagan church that helps you learn more about Neo-Paganism and Wicca, you can set up a proto-nest, meet people of like mind, and it sometimes has events, though most of them are now in the Midwest. Many of its rituals and culture have been adapted from "Stranger in a Strange Land" by Robert Heinlein, and his ideas. Please check out what CAW stands for before joining. You need NOT be a member to attend most nest meetings. Talk with some members and do some research first. CAW sometimes has infighting, and squabbles, and sometimes its like trying to herd cats - its a tribe, and not all of us agree on everything or demand that others agree, but that's OK... |

I have been trying to talk to CAW members - that's why I'm asking you questions. But I haven't found any members in my area or anywhere in Colorado. I'm not into Wicca. If I want to learn about Wicca there are any number of covens I could join. But I read SISL and the kind of organization described in the book appeals to me. Are there any elists I should join (other than Cawfeehouse which I am on)? I know the reality can't be the same as the book, any more than Twin Oaks is like Walden Two. But having a common vision is something that gives communities strength. I'd like to know more people who read the book and said "I want that." Idealists or something. |

CAW Inc. has become inactive and no further paperwork is being done for its members. The BoD allegedly will discorporate the Church next year. Please do NOT send them any dues or tithes until they change their minds. |

Church of All Worlds started out as a hazy fictionalization of Los Angeles Ordo Templi Orientis (Agape Lodge 2). Even Bob Heinlein had the common sense not to join it! The first earthed version was little more than a mimeographed newsletter, and as such it was at it's best. There was never any core to it, and it found it's way as a network of many differing spiritual explorations. The only uniting element was a vague ethical code, derived from fiction, and Aleister Crowley. Formal legal incorporation would spell it's doom, as it meant that someone had to keep track of all that money, and someone had to show up for work, publishing and resonding to correspondence. These folk were never good about even basic responsibility. Many had something to sell, and used CAW to do it, and as soon money started coming in, the profiteer would make damn sure it didn't go to CAW. Oh yeah, then there was sex, with someone who wasn't your regular and betrothed. It just never works, the whole polyamory thing. Splits happened, and with it the entire disorganized mass would start taking sides. The only thing that ever made CAW work was those individuals who were willing to give, without any thought to being paid. You Don, are one of those people. Stay warm, drink deep, never thirst. |

Hi, Mike; It's been a long time since I've talked to you, send me an e-mail with your email address !!, etc. You can read most of the sordid story of CAW Inc's recent demise in the 'Rap, as well as my not-so-tidy rebellion against it and iCAW. You're mostly right about the financial end of things. Green Egg's end was a very large blow, but that isn't what killed it. The funky sex arrangements were only practiced by a few people, but nobody really cared what they did. However when you hire an employes and don't pay them it brings real trouble. When your BoD are actually members of a different church AND started up a successor for CAW in secret, and kept it quiet, then suddenly resigned enmasse, with no explanation at all to its members then the line has to be drawn. I don't really give a damn about 6th Circle or a Ministry. But as you know 2RN may be officially discorporate, but it ain't dead yet ! Hope the Thing with Tom and your org worked out OK for you. Keep in touch !... NEVER THIRST ! |

HI Mike ! It would be nice if you left an email address. If you've read the 'Rap lately you may get an idea of just how pissed off I am with how CAW Inc turned out. When Apple took over the finances the church had its first competant Accountant - and unfortunately, its last. Remember the red Tri-Cycle ? That joke is what actually happened - another independent Church, Spirit Weavers, got its members elected to the CAW BoD, then moved it to Ohio. Then they secretly set up iCAW to get out of CAWs debt and severe legal problems - hiring an employee then not paying her brings major on legal problems. Hiring the CAW Prexy as Administration with doubts about whether he was supposed to get paid for it or not is a major problem - he recently passed on however. Then having GE's collapse as a final death nell ? Yeah, that's why I stayed 4th Circle... NT |

Hey, Don - Well, yours is the only page to shed some light on this. I have not been a member of CAW since late 1998 and quite honestly would not be one again; old age has made me much less eclectic, I guess. Even so, I am sorry CAW is gone, though, if I read the remains of the CAW site correctly, it looks like most of the priesthood had bailed already. It is a shame to see what appeared to be a handful of creative people totally sunk under what was, to be charitable, a huge deficit of simple common sense. I can't see how any creditor can be fooled by "iCAW", by the way, and I assume this is likely just going to explode (or fizzle out) as well. Oh, well. There are still people I knew, even for a short time, who I wish I still knew, or at least knew how they are doing. I may pursue that sometime. Glad you're fighting the good fight, though. - Mark |

It's time for an update on CAW again. Oberon has reincorported CAW in CA and it's making a slow recovery. http://www.caw.org has a new team of webmasters and is updating CAW WEB after years of neglect and abandonment. Meanwhile iCAW.net has that 'abandoned look' caw.org had under their misrule. CAWT_Network has alot of information many CAW Y!Boards don't have, and the BFR is going to be checked for bad links and may have some more titles to put links in and when I find the time I'll be testing for broken links - which will mess up my hit counter, but improve things... http://www.barsoomfishrap.com The Barsoom Fish 'Rap |

I've been away from the Internet for about a month intotal because of a problem with AOL, which has been fixed. This Forum is way underutilized, mostly because all of the good stuff is being posted at CAWT_Network and CAW-Phoenix Y! Groups. So this board is obso. But, I'll keep it going if there's anyone who wants to talk about subjects without joining these groups... http://www.basoomfishrap.org The Barsoom Fish 'Rap |
