Just thought I'd mention on the message board that we've got Matthew Sweet covering Tom Petty's "American Girl" for the upcoming FDR compilation of bands covering songs from 80s movies (titled High School Reunion, coreleased with NY based indie label American Laundromat Records - release date, 10/15/05). The Dipsos are doing "Million Miles Away" by the Plimsouls (in Valley Girl). Bastards of Melody are covering the Replacements' "With Your Reach (from Say Anything) and Blank Pages are doing "Turning Japanese" (what is that from damn it???). Anyway it's shaping up to be a stellar line-up and we've got more big names to announce soon. I guess the Petty tune is in Fast Times... Check out the American Laundromat Records' web site for more detailed info (www.americanlaundromatrecords.com). Anyway, just wanted to mention how cool it will be to release something with a track from Matthew Sweet. http://www.facedown.net |

I hope you guys can make it too. And pray for nice weather as it's going to be an outdoor event. |
