Fishing has been great all year on Winnebago. Alot of Walleyes averaging 14-18 inches. Smallmouth Bass fishing has been also very good. Getting a few perch mixed in, but have not had a chance to fish for them, with the bass and walleyes hitting as good as there are.

I've never fished the wolf river chain before. What is the best area to start fishing for large and smallmouth bass? Is it better to fish the lakes or river? Any help would be appreciated.

You can catch the bass in the river and in the lake. Fish the fallen timber on the shore lines of the river and focus on the rock bars in the lake. Good Luck!~

Capt. MarkCould you tell me if the walleye and perch are biting very good? My husband and I have never been to this lake and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The walleye action has been good all year. Jigging, Trolling, and bobber fishing. Mostly on the rock humps. The perch fishing will be picking up very good this time of year. Stay in the deeper water for the perch. Nightcrawlers, helgramites, or thunderbugs work very good for the perch.Good Luck, Capt. mark

Thanks Capt. Mark for the insight. Do you have any suggestions as far as names of the humps to fish for walleye? We generally are in Minnesota this time of year, and I am hoping that this lake proves as exciting as Winnie. Do you also have any suggestions for other lakes in the area, we mostly fish for walleye, crappie and perch. Thanks again...

Hi Tina,Most of the rock bars I fish are not named. Your best fishing is going to be on the humps that are not fished alot. So watch the depth finder and read the bottom. Or troll until you find something throw a marker and jig fish it.As for the other lakes in the area, most of them have walleyes, perch and crappies.
