There are plans to build 27 homes in the 3400 block of Granite Road. As a homeowner who cherises our diminishing rural charm, I am adamantly opposed to this idea. There is a community input meeting at Hernwood Elementary School 9/21/04 at 7pm. Please, PLEASE attend to inform developers that the Greater Patapsco community doesn't want or need any more McMansions destroying our once bucolic area. Our schools are overcrowded, our wildlife is increasingly displaced, and careless drivers speeding through our roads have reduced the pleasure of living in Granite. Why do these developers keeping taking from us without giving anything back to the community?! It's heartbreaking. NOTHING good can come of it.

A fair turnout of citizens (perhaps 30?) listened quite politely to the engineer, Dan Blevins, and the developer, Bruce Shapiro for 2 1/2 hours. Dan and Bruce are eager to work with us, so much so that they have offered to allow us to rename the proposed development, away from their brainchild "Griffith's Adventure Estates." Any suggestions? Please don't allow such signs to go up in our neighborhood. If, and I emphasize, IF the building of 28 homes does transpire, let's at least not sound like a subdivision of Columbia!!! Please email me at beck3440-RemoveThis-@att.net.
