My GGrandparents John(38yrs) and Bridget(36yrs) McNamara with four children Dennis(12yrs), Mary(10yrs), Thomas(8yrs), James(4yrs) and Catherine born at sea arrived in Adelaide aboard the "Standard" on 13th October 1853 and settled in Paris Creek. Most of he family later settled in and around Macclesfield in the Adelaide Hills not far from Paris Creek. Two other Mcnamara's arrived on that ship a single female Bridget 18ys and a single male John 16yrs who was sponsored by a Mike Kenny. Altough I have no proof I believe these two persons to be the eldest children of my Mac's if anyone out there can solve this for me I would be very grateful

Dennis is my great gf. This i know from a note written by my mother, Marie Mc Namara alongside a photo of Dennis and wife Sarah (nee Anderson)in the book titled: Macclesfield: Reflections along the Angas, published in 1980 by the Macclesfield Historical Book Committe. The book contains quite a few refences to the McNamaras of Macclesfield.

Hi John , Your Mother Marie was my first cousin, Her father and mine were brothers. My Father was John the eldest of Dennis and Sarah's brood. He did not marry until he retired at 65 and was 70 when I was born. I have an older brother also called John who lives in Adelaide. I used to live in Qlds but am now back in Vitoria. I would like to talk to you further about your branch of the family if you are interested please contact me at jo.les@impulse.net.au. We will be away for a couple of weeks so if I don't get back straight away that will be why. regards Jo
