A few weeks ago, it was announced that Thomas Ravn's "Devil" had passed away. I would like to nominate Devil for an honorary induction into the K9 ProSports Hall of Champions.
Your comments would be appreciated.

Here's my thoughts...
First off, let me say Devil was a really cool dog, based on what I heard, and the little I saw of him through pics. Please understand that what follows is not meant in any way to diminish Devil or Thomas in any way, and that in no way would I personally dispute Devil's induction. That said, let me get to the 'However'.
Before ANY decision is made to induct Devil, we need to review the standards and requirements set forth upon the cration of the HOC. I ask these questions because I do not know the answers, so please Thomas don't be offended.
1) Did Devil participate in at least 4 trials, maintaining a certfiable score, at least one of these a regional AND a Finals?
2)Devil must have been out of competition for no less than 2 years at time of induction (if all above requirements are OK, then we just wait a little if we have too :)
As a MWD, Devil definitely made a positive impact in his, and others, communities, so that one is a go.
IF these conditions are satisfied, I would happily second the nomination in writing :)

Yeah, I don't know if he meets those requirements either, Butch would know.
But may I suggest that we consider a provision of Honorary Inductee, in cases where a dog who has "served" and participated in K9PS may be nominated and voted in based on overall service and community contribution. This certainly fits with the overall principals enbraced my our sport.
Just a thought. But it seems to me that in cases where it was likely that they would have gone on to the HOC in the absence of their pre-mature death, it might be a really cool gesture to afford them a posthumous honor.

Hi Thad!
After speaking with Butch today, I found the only qualification not filled is the two year one. I have seconded your nomination officially, pending the passage of that mark. Devil deserves it.
HOWEVER!!! (There I go again with the however, LOL) I feel we need to be VERY careful granting ANY dog an exception where the HOC is concerned. The stipulations are there for a reason, and I worry that if we start making 'honorary' inductees, no matter how deserving, eventually it might 'cheapen' the honor for dogs who filled all the formal quals. Since this won't be an issue for Devil, it's not at the moment as important as it may have been, but we need to decide now if it will EVER be done, and under what circumstances!
