hey there, I have macnamara relations in fethard on sea in wexford. two names that were quite popular were tom and john macnamara (brothers)as they were involved in the RNLI lifeboat disaster in 1914. john macnamara was part of a crew of 14 and they went out in terrible weather to save a mexican boat that was washed up againist the rocks of the keeragh islands.. the lifeboat was smashed as they got near and only five managed to struggle to shore and the other nine perished. as far as i know all the mexicans got off the boat but one died on the beach as they awaited rescue. the 12 men were stranded on that beach for over four days with no shelter, no water only a half bottle of wine, a small bottle of brandy and some raw limpets and a tin of meat. they were eventually rescued. there is a book called "the helen blake" which is the name of the lifeboat. "the last fethard lifeboat" by john doyle. it shows a nickly macnamara which is a son of john macnamara and that he married the sister of his good friend garret handrick. if any of this matches up just email me and i'll pass on photos and other information i've gathered
