I am a decendant of Patrick John McNamara (b. abt.1867 Ballarat, Vic, Australia d.18 Aug 1938 Malvern, Vic, Australia) & Ellen Kate Down (b. 23 Apr 1879 Fitzroy, Vic, Australia d.13 Sep 1960 McKinnon, Vic, Australia) they were married 4 June 1900 St. Kilda West, Vic, Australia and had 17 children. Patrick was previously married to Hanora Brick and they had 2 children. Other than knowing Patrick's parents names I haven't been able to locate any concrete information that will expand our family tree. I have a couple of generations back on Ellen Kate Down's side, but would appreciate anything further. I would love to gain any information possible for myself and my grandfather (one of the 17 children and living). I look forward to hearing from anyone with information or details of where I might find further information. Thanks in advance! |

What were their parents names as I'm looking for children of Mcnamaras married in Ballarat in 1856 |

Michelle, I'd suggest getting Patrick's parents death certificates from Births, Deaths & Marriages. They usually ahve all their kids listed on them and sometimes an address. Could help you alot. Otherwise get BD&M certificates for the info they provide. |

Hi Bridget. Sorry for the late reply! Patrick John McNamara's parent were John McNamara and Hanora Connor. I have their wedding date as abt.1961. According to my grandfather (one of his children) he only had one sibling (Mary McNamara, who married Thomas Crowe and had two children). Ellen Cate Down's parent were Richard Thomas Down and Mary Callaghan, they married 24 April 1875 at St Patrick's Cathedral in East Melbourne. I hope this helps. Cheers Michelle |
