I would just like to draw attention to Tom's reply to Martin's message about keyboard size. It seems to merit a new thread. Here is a copy of his comment: "I absolutely agree with your comments about keyboard size - except that I would be happy with a slightly larger one! The thing that bothers me most is the height of the keyboard from the floor. I can't get my knees under it and have to sit with my knees apart and pedal with the side of my foot. It is also impossible to sit with my knees lower than my thighs (as recommended for health posture). Raising the height of the keyboard would also mean finding a way to extend the pedals. Does anyone know if this has been done?"

I am 6 feet and 8 inches tall and I am trying to find a grand piano that I can sit at comfortably. I have yet to do so. You can put the legs up on blocks, but the pedals are then in mid-air. Anyone with a good solution, please post it here!

I have this problem too and you're right: there is no solution. It seems ridiculous that manufacturers are unable to produce some grands with longer legs and adjustable height pedals. When buying a new grand, we found that generally, the more modern models are higher than older ones. The best I manage at the moment is to sit at the correct height with my feet on the pedals, but then sprawl my knees/thighs to left and right. This leaves you looking like a deformed frog, and is not very attractive for performing though!
