I have an idea, lets go back a few years...we have a good car count in 410 deal, races actually paid some decent money, lost cars and then we cut the deal out, so now we're racing for half, and spending the same amount of money to race...tires and cars are the same and motors cost the same to rebuild and just about the same to buy new (360 vs. 410), and now all im hearing is ohh lets change to 305 deal! yeah i think its great what they are doing with the urss and dodgecity, but your racing for half of a half now...now back to my idea, why don't all you people out there that have good experience of running your mouth, go out and get some sponsors for these races and get these promotors some cash so they can put up some money to win and you'll see some bad@$$ races and racers coming to a town near you! |

don't know nothing, You go out and get the first BIG Sponsor and get the first race started and I am sure the rest will follow.LOLold and still broke, you have the right idea , 305's are the ticket to cheaper racing JUST as long as they keep teching the rules for the class or then it is useless like the other classes and series that are in this area. |

don't know anything, isn't the job of a PROMOTER to go out and obtain SPONSORS for the races at his Facility? Any particular reason the Promoters shouldn't have to work just as hard or even a little bit harder than the guys that actually come to race at their Facilities? |

I totally agree with you on the promotors stepping up the anty for these races! And as far as the 305 deal being any cheaper the motors may be cheaper but last time I checked Maxim or Eagle doesn't sell a cheap 305 car or hoosier doesn't sell a cheap tire...Other than the motors it costs the same to build a car...and last time I went to a DCRP race there were some pretty nice quality cars there, not like they bought ten year old cars and just started racing them! |

Most 305 guys don't run a new chassis. The vast majority are 2,3,4 years old. Saves a lot of money. |

The drivers are responsible for putting on a quality show or the fans wont come and the promoter cant pay the purse! |

The Promoter number one along with the Drivers are responsible for putting on a good show. You can have the best Drivers in the world and have a Promoter that drags the show out, can't get cars lined off and on the track, too many unecessary caution laps etc. The fans won't set through poorly run shows for very long! Promoters need to get with the program, unlike some somes out here in Western Kansas last year where a-mains didn't start until well past midnight. |

You can run a used car for longer (unless you crash) than you can a used motor. |

well here we are again.. the age old debate on the cost of sprint racing or racing in general...its simple really..there are two problems here.. one the promotors and two the racers... first, the promotors know that we will race 80,000+ dollar cars for a bigger trophy then last year no matter how many tires ,cars, and engines it takes because some one will do it then the next week the next guy will and so on and so on because we HAVE to have that big trophy..the promotors know this so they keep the same purses as last year because what are we gonna do besides whine? where else are we gonna race? how far are we willing to tow? the answer for the promotor is easy....how do i make more money as a promotor? i could gamble and get sponsors have a few good money shows take a chance on the crowd or i could invent yet another class of something to race knowing that us..the racers ...will bring 4 or 5 other people in the pits at 25 plus each ..he buys a ten dollar huge trophy and because of that big trophy some other group of folks will build another car/thing bring another 5 people in the pits and they will each eat 10 dollars worth of hot dogs and death disks.. thats how he makes his money today..in the back gate... the racers answer is simple.. quit racing for less money !!!!!!!!!! we all seen it in the 410's ..it got too expensive to run for that big trophy and the purses went down because we can all run a 360 for less money so the purses got smaller...and smaller and smaller.. the cost went up and up and up.. and we still had to get that trophy.. i have decided there is no way to controll the costs of this...i thought engine rules would...look at the ascs deal ..that didnt work.. they made it worse..i thought the tire deal would work ...it didnt ... the guy that wants the trophy bad enough will still put on new rubber every time no matter what the rule is..and the medium tire vs the hard tire is a joke.. its still 200 a nite for the trophy. the wing thing is another joke.. 600 plus dollars and when ya wreck it its not worth the price of a pit pass... and the rules change on that thing every year it seems..then we all have to be as light as we can so the titanium bolt and part guy gets rich on our account...there is no answer for this problem.. the 305 isnt the answer just like the 360 wasnt.. i think its cool what salem is doing with that class but it will be out of hand soon enough.. some one will outspend the next to get that trophy making the next guy spend more because thats what we do... i tow over 1000 miles each weekend trying to get that trophy at 3 50 a gallon fuel.. i think im selling my cars and getting hooked on cocaine... at least they have a twelve step program to get off the stuff... http://mightyquinnracing.com |

This guy has it right! No one could have put it better. Racers will race and if you want to race you have to pay, and the promoter gets the bucks or else goes broke (the racer also goes broke). The series all start out good then end up w/everyone complaining and then the next one and so on. It's the same w/the mower racing. Starts out cheap then that guy over there puts all this money into his mower so the next guy does and so on, then the rules and so on.LETS RACE!! GO #83 |

to further Quinn's views. I can easily the hopelessness of cooperation for the betterment of the sport. But even if it just begins at 1 track or in 1 area - I think the most effective way to turn the tide is cooperation between all 3- promoters, drivers, and engine builders. But mostly I think it goes back to the promoters - after all - they pull the rulebooks together - they tech the cars. problem is - many (maybe a majority) have bad rulebooks and despite how good their rulebook may be - does not enforce it. It's pretty obvious that many of the regional powers in these factors (all over the US) are not working together or doing a whole lot to insure a long-term success of sprint car racing. Guess maybe the fans need to demand that a lil more loudly........ |
