Hi George,Do you know what happened to Jonathan? He stammers more and more these days and he no longer hosts the "Morning Call" programme on Radio 4. You described him as "brain-dead".Any news of him? Thanks.

Jonathan is just another example of someone sitting on a civil service style post in Hong Kong. He has a super special contract apparently so has lots of leave and lots of money. His preparation of programmes is insufficient I think and this is because I have the impression he doesn't like classical music all that much. He also knows hardly anybody listens closely. So he has a kind of contempt for music anf for radio. Just my impression. The interview/feature with Hough took nearly an hour and was deadly boring, bland and allowed Hough to get away with his pretentious drivel. It showed no real research into the man. At one point Jonathan went on about Saint Saens and the piece in question turned out to be one page and three minutes long. Took him by surprise as he obviously had not researched that fact. There are many other instances. I think we need new blood at RTHK. I hate his camp delivery too - very old hat arty farty and the erms are just too many and too often. But he isn't the worst at RTHK 4 by any means. I can take errors if the presenter is really enthusisatic about the music but can't otherwise. JD stll uses computer generated Powergold compilations I think for his morning show, when he does it, hence the horrible hotch-potch of the output. Lazy and tedious broadcasting indeed.
