My husband and I are considering moving to Kent with our 3 kids. We are seeking a progressive community. Do you feel Kent is pretty progressive. I am not sure I want to raise our kids in Medina anymore. We talk about moving to Canada, but I am not so sure that is the answer for us. I will continue to meditate and hope the universe provides an answer.Namaste,Michele

Hi Michelle, Kent is about as progressive as you can get in Ohio. ;) The student population is pretty diverse, but there are some very progressive townies. It's a nice place to live. I was here for 10 years and I recommend it.

Isn't liberal supposed to be a dirty word ... who would desire liberality in a town? Liberal ideal are the root of democratic values. Kent is an environment that revels in this, though it seems to be struggling as always to continue. I grew up in Kent and moved to Philadelphia. Kent gave me an education in human values and an appreciation for the environment. The ideals of the folk of Kent, Ohio inspire beyond slogans, protests, and knne-jerk reactions. Community programs and the people devoted to issues are well-informed. They see through corporate propped up governments and artistically think of ways to resolve public policy fouls. If you want your children to develop critical thinking as an intellectual virtue, and if you want your children to *live* sound moral values with a choice school system for public education, then you'd be hard pressed to find any place in the states that compares. Kent has deep heart. All can expect great things from Kent kids!
