I hope to go and do my bit for both Spencer and Greenpeace August 18/19th. But we don't know about the weather, and the date may well be changed and changed again.
Is aNyone else here thinking of going?

maybe we met! i met a group from geneva (united nations i think they said) but most french and german and a couple of swiss (ladies from north of geneva the first two (by five minutes!) into the rocks for first pose.
i thought the walking was seriously underplayed by greenpeace in their publicity, espeically getting home again. it was like my doing the grand canyon top-bottom-top again in a day. or it certainly felt like it, 30+ years and 2 knee operations later.

Well, on my site (see the link below) you can see who I am and also pics of the Glacier installation, do you recognize me?
In the information that was sent it was noted that you had to be fit enough for a though 4 hours hike... so I think they did warn us... Yes, it was though but I loved it too!
The friend I went with found it a bit too hard (he is almost 50...), I had to slow down to his tempo and we were the last ones to arrive back at the cable cars. I did feel very proud of us, especially because I'm from The Netherlands (very flat ;)) and I'm not used to mountain hikes.

i sent this reply ages ago but it has not appeared! i try again.
anyway, yes they said "not for the non-fit" but they did not say it was very difficult, rocky, unstable, steep etc.
As i left there were still a lot of people on the glacier mostly chatting up spencer offering to pose the next morning. i thought then "will they make it to the cable car" because nobody knew when it would close. would spencer make it?!
this walk was much further than anticpated (i would have preferred to go back the way we came, I think).
not many people over-took me though am 60 years old so had to stop occasionally on the way up(your friend is "almost 50".. a youngster!!)
every time i thought i was getting near the cable car to go down it became further away!!
still i guess we all made it safely, no tragedies, and it was certainly different (and exhillarating.)
sadly I didn't see you - nor in amsterdam... maybe next time.
