just a note to say that because I am too busy to maintain the site properly, i have given it to a couple of friends, Kris & Gilead, who will start to make the improvements I have failed to do. Thanks for sticking with it! Mike |

There is nothing to update on The Spencer Tunick Experience at the moment. We're waiting for the upcoming installation in Vienna on May 11, and once that is over there will be more to add. We rely on our visitors and installation participants to contribute a few paragraphs and photos, so that we can add new pages for various installations. Without these, we have no further material to add. That is why we have no page for Mexico - no one has contributed any text to the site. Note that the Spencer Tunick Experience is not an information site and does not carry information about future events. It only documents past events from the participants' point of view. For this, we maintain the Spencer Tunick Forum (link below) where news of future events is announced and discussed in great detail. If you have participated in an installation, why don't you contribute a few paragraphs about your experience. I would be thrilled to add it to the site. Best wishes, Gil. http://www.spencertunickforum.org/ The Spencer Tunick Forum |

That's quite a political answer. This site ALWAYS was announcing new installations and that for the last few years. It requires quite a poker face to announce the opposite without flinching. About the other site, first it's not really a site, it's more a chat room. Second, it is controlled by online freaks in power trips who can't accept that many installation goers are nudists. Third, you need to register to use that site and I'm already registered to tons of site, and I don't need to register to every chat room there is. |

Gil, that's quite a revisitation of history. It's actually the opposite, this site was used to announce new events as well. I'm very disappointed of the lack of work did on that site since 4-6 months. I understand you're volunteering but still. It's dead. |

Dear Jess and JB When we took over The Spencer Tunick Experience, we did so in the mind that it would work in tandem with the Spencer Tunick Forum, with a clear division in function. It was also decided that we would not be monitoring this discussion group as the forum fills that function and Mike expressed an interest in keeping it going. As the current site owners and admins, we're not revising history, we have just removed the news and information function from the site as this is already covered by our sister site, the forum. I do not represent the site while it was still in Mike's hands. Mike assigned a certain role to it. We have assigned a slightly different role to it. The reason you have to register to the forum is so that we can monitor fake users who are trying to post porn site posts and links to sites selling Viagra. We do this successfully, and catch approximately three or four fake users a day. As a result, we get no porn posts on the forum and it is kept on topic. I disagree with the claim that the forum moderators are "online freaks in power trips who can't accept that many installation goers are nudists" (I prefer the word naturists) as at least three of the admins themselves are naturists as are many of our members. What we do emphasise is that the forum is an appreciation forum for Spencer Tunick and his art, and NOT a naturist site, some people misunderstand this, and try to use the forum as a platform to express naturist views. By the way, just for clarity, Jess: A chat room is a place where people congregate online and chat in real time. The forum does not have this function or capability. I am quite happy to add a news section to The Spencer Tunick Experience if enough people request it through the Spencer Tunick Experience website. There is an email link provided on the site for that purpose and you do not need to register to access it. This discussion group is not the place to do so, because I do not own it. I am a visitor here, just as you are. So far I have received no requests whatsoever. If I receive enough of them, I will gladly look into the option of setting up a news page. Jess, whether you decide to join the forum or not is your choice. I am not going to alter the entire functionality structure of a website and a forum just because you do not want to do memorise another password. I will mention that the forum offers to remember your login and password. I hope this helps to clarify a few things. Gil. Jess, I have one thing to ask though. Clearly you must already be a member of the forum, otherwise you would not be able to know that "it's controlled by online freaks..." etc. Or maybe you are not a member and just repeating someone else's opinion. If indeed, you are a member, why don't you post a topic in the off topic section expressing your opinion and let other members have their say as well. I can assure you as a forum admin that we will not delete your post or reply with a mouthful, and if one of my colleagues does, I will personally give him (or her) a mouthful. Rather than rant about it here, try it out. Best wishes, Gil. http://www.spencertunickforum.org/ The Spencer Tunick Forum |

Hi Gil and all. I do appreciate the fact that you're volunteering to update this site so I am not upset at the relatively low number of updates you're posting however I have seen a little more updates recently so I guess it's a move in the right direction. Yes I am/was member of the forum. I called it a chat room. Yes, it's true it's a forum if you want to play with the semantics, but whatever it's almost the same as the MSN groups there was before. Basically, some comments, most of them unrelated to art, and some pictures that can be found elsewhere for the most part. The exclusive ones are the ones of some members in regular clothes ... not very artistic. I noticed that no new picture have been posted in a while. Anyway, let's be clear, I don't blame you or anybody else, I just don't like dead sites. Hopefully you'll bring some life on this one. |
