I am starting a small (50-60 seat) cinema house to show old movies on DVD. Will a "home theater" set up work for this? The room is 22X42. Any help is appreciated.

Using a home cinema setup will work as long as you don't care about a professional high-quality presentation. A good projector for a screen that is 10x14 will be at least $3,000. Plus audio, good screen, DVD players, switcher etc, you are around 10,000 for a good system.

be careful what you show--Kino went after a showing of Metropolis-- Berne copyright act---certain films and countries films are still copyrighted back to the begining of film.....that was shown in springfield ,ohio

Be very thorough on copyright searches before you run public domain movies. Some have been challenged like Metropolis and CharadeI not only do a google search, but go to sites like oldies.com which is Alpha Video...their label of PD titles are usually clear....although I usually look elsewhere for good quality. As far as equipment--3500 lumen DLP is MINIMUM for a small theatre--room must be very dark for best picture quality.
