I never met Sarah, but her story came to me at an important time in my life. Frustrated with the realization of all the struggles that come with not only being a shoestring-budget filmmaker, but also being a chick with a camera in an industry that finds it to be a little uncool, I was about ready to drop out of film school in Minneapolis. It was at that moment that my 16mm class teacher showed "I Was A Teenage Serial Killer" and told us stories of Sarah's relentlessness to get her films out there. "People don't think they're funny," I remember hearing quoted, "But I *know* they're fuckin' funny!" Through the tough times, I always kept the Sarah stories in mind and they always got me through it. I'll never forget these stories, but I wish I could have met her once, just to tell her "thanks".
