“Ladies and gentlemen, it’s sooo time to party.” –Improv Shmimprov, 10/05. THIS OCTOBER. EVERY NIGHT IS A PARTY. Improv Shmimprov is about to throw a month-long celebration and you are invited. In honor of the infinite fun that is implied by the suffix “fest,” upon the word “October,” Shmimprov has gone ahead and slapped its prefix-like half-syllable “Shm” onto the front and turned it into an entire month of special shows, contests, and discounts. It all starts this Saturday on October 1st , and goes until October 29th, with a different event every night! So check out the calendar of events and then come down and join the excitement that is Shmimprov! SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1st : Opening Ceremonies! The month officially begins, and we’ll make our announcements of the special contests and prizes that can be won throughout the month. But more importantly, it’s a huge discount night. For all returning audience members, you will get in FREE by bringing one brand new audience member. So grab a friend who’s never seen the show, and your ticket is on the house. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7th : THE ALL-GIRLS SHOW! There’s been rumor of it around for a while, and a month or so ago there was a mostly all girls show, which was two teams of two but one of them was Nate in drag. This one is the real deal. Two teams of THREE girls each : Lindsay, Amber, Jax, Nishita, Megan, and even the beloved Tawnie will be here for the most estrogen the Maverick Theater has ever seen. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 8th: LADIES NIGHT! Girls get in two for one! And if you want to dress up in pajamas, bring pillows and get into fluffy wrestling contests in the middle of the show, that’s fine with us. But mostly you just get in two for one. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14th: THE SURVIVOR SHOW! This show will be modeled after the TV show : Survivor. The show will start with eight improvers, and one by one they will be eliminated by playing games, granted immunity, or be voted off their team. At the end there may only be two players left to play their team games and try to win. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15th: SHMIMPROV SPIRIT! Wear any Shmimprov apparel and get into the show for free! Don’t have any Shmimprov apparel? Go to our website and click on “Store” and see what we’ve got, or just talk to us at the show and we’ll show your our inventory. It’s stylish and financially wise! FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21st : MUSICAL SHMUSICAL! With the addition of a player piano into the Cabaret Stage at the Maverick, we’ll be brandishing a night of musical games to tickle your ivories. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22nd : RETURN OF THE ADMISSION DICE! The way it used to be : Improv Shmimprov once had the Admission Dice, you can either pay the five dollars or choose to roll an 8-sided die and pay what you roll. Maybe you’ll roll eight. Or maybe you’ll get in for one buck. Come gamble with Shmimprov! FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28th: THE DRUNK SHOW! The true heart of any Shmoctoberfest. Watch the Shmims slowly lose their sobriety throughout the show and find out what happens. Don’t worry, some sober Shmims will be on the sidelines in case anyone has to be taken out. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29th : CLOSING CEREMONIES! It’s all done, we’ll finalize the special contests and events that we’ll announce on the 1st. Plus it’s out final discount night : wear your Halloween Costume and get in for free! That’s what I call a party! So there’s your calendar of events!
