I am looking for my ancester named John Wellspring, b. 1819, in England. I believe that he may have come from Sydling. It is said that he always mentioned something about Two Three acres where he came from and we now (after many years)do not know if he meant his family owned 2 or 3 acres or if this was some type of name of a place or address. Could someone help me with this? Please just let me know and if you need to answer directly to my email address that will be fine. Thanks in advance for any help. Dona

Dear Dona,
Apologies for the delay in replying. The Welspring family do certainly still live in the village. We have an Audrey Welspring, and a Mary Welspring, both from the same family.
Kind regards
Simon

Donna,
I lived next door to Fred Wellspring for tenty years or so. There were three Brothers and one sister of the Wellspring family living in the village when I was at school, sadly all are now deceased although two of them have wives still resident in Three Acres.
Fred was married to Ethel and worked for a Farmer named Ian Bryant. There were two brothers that I knew, Jim and Jack although one of these correct name was Horace. Jim was married to Audrey and Jack was married to Mary who is the sister of the former village blacksmith, Dick Newman. Jack's son Ian still has land and property in the village. The sister who I believe was called Dolly was married to a farmer named Len Lock and they had about seven chldren. Jim left a daughter and Fred a son and daughter, all who no longer live here.
I don't know if they were decendents of your John Wellspring but it sounds quite likely.
I hope this is of some help.
