In the tadpole stage how can you tell the difference between a frog and a toad? |

Tough question. You would need a very detailed set of pictures of all the local frogs and toads and do a match. Toad tadpoles can often be black and tiny while a bullfrog, for example, has a HUGE tadpole who tends to be murky "bottom of the pond" color. Look up your state's frog and toad population on line and see if they offer photos. http://www.toadilytoads.com |

Thank you I will. I have been feeding them Algae waffers which they love. Someone told me not to that they need to eat their tails?? That sounds a little odd to me so I have kept feeding them. The tad poles are pretty small. I am hoping they are toads I don't have enough room in my pond for all of them.Thank you. |

I've never raised tadpoles but I know you do have to feed them. In the wild, they eat algae until they hit land and begin eating tiny insects. Good luck. http://www.toadilytoads.com |

Well my tadpoles are turning into little green frogs. They are on the leaves of some floating plants I have in their swiming pool. They look like tree frogs at this point. Will they change color now that they are out of the water? As tadpoles they were blackish now they are very green.thanks for you help. |

most tadpoles are black and then develop more color and identifying marks later as they grow. Toads never do get green, that I know of, so you most likely really have frogs. Let me know when they finally are on land and you can tell what they are. http://www.toadilytoads.com |
