Okay, kids. Here it is. Have at it. Try to be civil to each other and try not to get too outrageous in what you say. :) http://www.theloniousbernard.homestead.com Thelonious Bernard Nostalgia And Tribute Page |

Ok, So I am not the only one who knows who Thelonious is. I just saw "A Little Romance" again on HBO. I had forgotten how sweet the movie is and am reliving my youthful obsession with him. I "Googled" him and now I am here. Am I the only one who fondly remembers him and could not get enough of him when I was 13? Just wondering..... |

Hello Christina, the movie was great, and the soundtrack, composed by George Delereu, it s perfect, sweet and elegant. I think this "little site" is so interesting because T. Bernard desapered in time and space, instead D. Lane and L. Olivier. Finaly, it s a excuse to talk about the movie. Greatings. |

Thanks for putting up this message board. I remember seeing the movie "A Little Romance" in the late 1970's, and predicted a big acting career for Thelonious Bernard. But somehow, it was his only widely-released film. Whatever happened to him? Perhaps Thelonious decided that a life in show business was not for him, and pursued other interests instead. But that is just my guess. |

I saw "A Little Romance" in it's first week of release back in 1979. Since then, I've lost track of how many times I've seen the film. I even own the CD of the soundtrack by Georges DeLarue (?) WHen I got married I even used the sweet guitar/mandolin music (Rember when Lauren & Daniel were walking away hand in hand from the porn theatre) and used the faster msuic (when they ran out of the cathedral in Venice) for my recessional) Twas a poignant moment for us. I'd like to see what Thelonius looks like today. Something tells me his still somewhere in France, soaking up all the residuals. |

Thelonious was in a movie in France called "Allons Z'Enfants" or something like that. I don't know what happened to him after that. Somebody said he came from Bordeaux, but nobody seems to know for sure. The Internet Movie Database says it was released in 1981. http://www.theloniousbernard.homestead.com Celebrating Thelonious Bernard |

Too bad there's no photo of him somewhere too... he was just fab in this movie (that I saw in 1979)! But since they say he was found "playing soccer" -- maybe he's still doing that?! LOL |

Just saw A Little Romance and loved it. Interesting to see diane Lane at such a young age. I've heard that Thelonious became an artist and plays soccer religiously, but it hasn't been confirmed. Anyone know? |

Just saw A Little Romance and it was faccinating ot see Diane Lane at 13 years of age. I heard that Thelonious hated acting and became an artist and avid soccer player. Anyone out there heard anything? |

Today was my first time watching this movie. I saw it on HBO twice today and it was really really good (I believe it now my favorite romance movie). I was also wondering what happened to Theo, he is such a good actor.I was thinking that he made other movies, but can't find any. Anyway I think he should know that he has fans out there, |

wow it's so good to find other a little romance addicts. i watched this movie 18 years ago and i was so hooked on it i watched it almost everyday for a year i think. there was no internet yet then (or at least not as widespread as now) so i researched on back issues of vanity, teen mags, etc. there was nothing much about thelonious bernard back then but mostly about diane lane. i was able to follow diane lane's showbiz career and watch all her movies. but not thelonious. i hope we will be able to find more about him here. |

Count me in as well. I can remember vividly watching A L R over and over again back when I was 12. Now at 37, it is so wonderful to watch that movie and remember how wonderful I felt about life back then. |

Add another person to the mix...I am 37 and saw "A Little Romance" on HBO in 1979 - everytime it was on! Later got the film on VHS. I remember readng about Diane Lane and Ashby Semple in Seventeen Magazine. Before I got to go to Paris in 1996, I researched filming locations in Paris for the movie, and found the location of the park and the exact spot where the last scene was filmed. Hmmm...I don't remember how I did it, I didn't have a computer then and the Internet didn't have as much info. But I found the area anyway! That was very cool. Bench there and everything! |

Hi this is Thelo...yeah you're right, I'm still soaking up the residuals from that little flick I made with Larry and Diane. After my second movie bombed I just gave up. I guess I just should have quit while I was ahead. Well, we French have a saying, 'c'est la vie'...... Seriously, this is not really Thelonious, but I did enjoy his movie. I like the idea of a sequel, but it probably would be disappointing. I think some memories should remain just that. |

I didnt realize it but later in life a boy I met up with...he looked lot like Thelo...my husband teases me that thats the reason I like the movie is because of this old boyfriend, but of course I had to tell him I saw the movie B4 I met the old boyfriend lol. But they did look an awful lot alike....hey bonus to me lol. he was a lil hottie. I just wish we could find more info on him! I got curious about the information given (dentist in Nantes), so I looked it up in the White Pages. And voila! There he...is...(?)! HOWEVER... let's respect his right to privacy. As for a sequel: Mr. Claude Klotz (a.k.a. "Patrick Cauvin") is still alive and productive. Maybe one day (soon I hope) he will write a sequel... and then comes the tricky part: selling the script, and getting it funded for filming... WOuld Diane Lane and TB (plus Graham Fletcher-Cook & Asby Semple) agree to star in it? And what would the premise be? How could the magic of the first film be re-captured in a sequel? What would have become of their lives? Unfortunately, even if the perfect script would be written, U.S. audiences prefer to watch recycled crap. The film would most likely not be made, ever. I am still looking (unsuccessfully) for a moviehouse within 50 miles that will play Cedric Klapish's "Poupees Russes", the sequel to "L"auberge Espagnole". The market is what dictates film making: In 1979 ALR was the type of film people wanted to see. Today, they want to see Star Wars #26, or anything that is CG. This weekend France takes on Italy for the world cup. I am rooting for France! Patrick Cauvin's books (some of them) have been translated into English: "Porquoi Pas Nous", and another one I can;t rememeber now. There is a Spanish translation of E=MC2 Mon AMour, and on my first trip to France, I bought E=MC2 and Monsieur Papa on papaerback. Of course they are in french. I will read them both... someday... when I learn enough French to understand it. And I will make a confession: I stole the Spanish E=MC2 from a public library. I had to pay for the book in order to clear my card, but I'm glad I did it since I would not be able to find a copy of it anywhere else. |

I agree with everyone that this is a marvelous film. Moreover, I thought that a sequal focusing on a reunion of the lead characters would be enticing, especially if Diane Lane and Thelonious Bernard were to star in it. The problem is not that Hollywood would not make the film, but rather that in a way they already have! Specifically, I would point to the films "Before Sunrise" (1995) and "Before Sunset: (2004) starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. The theme of "reencountered love" is poignantly addressed in these well executed films. They certainly touch on what I would have expected from a sequel to "A Little Romance." Even so, I must confess that "A little Romance" as well as D. Lane and T. Bernard continue to hold an edge for me! |
