Alton is a little lost piece of history for me. My father was born in Alton (Thomas Wood) and is buried at the Orchard Hill (Fullenwider) Cemetery. My Grandmather lived in that old gigantic 3 story white home off the river that cornered the Blue River. I have fond memories of my Uncle Charles and Uncle Jim. I remember a couple of stores and the post office in town when I was a little kid. There really are a lot of good childhood memories of the Summer time visits to this little unique town.
