Hello Everyone,I thought I'd let you know what is happening over here in Australia.I conduct a children's choir for 10 to 14 year olds who tour nationally or internationally every year. This year they have decided they would like to help children less fortunate than themselves by performing concerts to schools in Australia and collecting money in the process.I volunteered with TAPA in Brasov in winter 2003/04 and have been back four times since. I always share stories of my travels with the choir. The children have been touched by the plight of abandoned children in Romania, so they've decided that's what they want to support. Therefore, Sing Elon International Choir from Launceston, Tasmania, Australia will be performing concerts throughout Australia for the next twelve months, raising money and awareness of Romania. We hope to raise approximately $10 000 AUD (about 4000 pounds) to be used within the Brasov region.I also hope to bring some of the children to Brasov in September 2007 to see what they accomplish first hand. All these plans are still being finalised, but I just thought I'd let you know that there is support from way over here too!If you'd like to find out more about the choir, our website is www.singelon.com There will Romanian news added to it soon. From Elana, who is dreading the approaching winter, so is completely jealous of the coming European summer! |
