I have received my MBA in business with a concentration in PA. I have only the basic of accounting skills. If I enter the accounting field (PHD) do i need to take baby sets first or would it be to advance for me? help me make a decision |

Dee: It will depend on the program you choose and your area of research interest. Do you have any schools in mind that you may consider attending? I had minimal accounting courses, but significant experience in accounting. Have you attended the PhD Project conference in Chicago? If not, you may wish to consider applying and attending this coming November. |

Tonya A Phd is a research degree. I would be sure to talk about your desire to do research in accounting. Try and look at some recent academic accounting research and mentioned what is interesting to you. It may be hard to read the full articles, but look at the abstract and introduction. The Accounting Review is a good source. |
