If you are referring to employment prospects upon completion, then you have a valid concern. Although some undergraduate IS programs have been growing, the number of students who have enrolled in MIS programs or MIS classes on the graduate level has dropped significantly since 2000. Some MBA programs allow students to test out of MIS course. A decreasing number of MIS students mean less MIS faculty are needed. Having said that, there are still opportunities available in the academic field for MIS professors. However, the number of students enrolled in MIS courses should be taken into consideration.

MIS profession is growing by leaps and bounds. I am pursuing a doctorate of professional studies of computing (MIS). The problem is that statistical data outlining the job outlook is not represented in the forefront of most periodicals, nor does any novice know about the lucrative opportunities in MIS. This is where I come in. I want to enlighten people of color of the opportunities that are available in MIS, especially in ERP/MRP implementation towards strategy enterprise management for corporate performance.
