incognito	posted 9/11/07 6:42 AM     How is Gary Ivins even on the radio still? I have heard him talk and have heard so much negative feedback from the listeners about how awful his announcing is. If you were looking up in the dictionary of what a redneck radio announcer would look like, you would see his picture by it. im not saying i want to hear espn professional radio guys, but at least have announcers that act objectionable. both games at the end he has said "IT'S OVAAAAH" especially after lufin has barely won its first two games of the year. does lufkin really need to have a homer announcer? im about 99% sure that the only reason he has a radio show is because he pays Yates Broadcasting money to just talk on the radio. most can tell that by just listening to him. didnt we learn our lesson of him being on radio with his show to jus add him to the new crew of the friday night radio group.what announcers tell callers to put their money where their mouth is on radio? anyways, i will have a few more things to say tomorrow after good ole Ivans opens his mouth on radio again.

Unfortunately, he interrupts Colin Cowherd everday with his idiotic wannabe babble. If he has to be on the radio, could'nt he just be moved to the 2:00 slot? That way I would only have to turn the radio off once and be able to miss his show as well as Stephen A. Smith's. I'm not sayin' - I'm just sayin'......JEEZ.
shortstop	posted 10/25/07 6:07 PM     I use to listen to 1260AM all day until 4pm. That's because The Porch was unbearable. Now I listen to 1260AM from 8am to 11am and again from 1pm to 5pm. I'm looking for other means to listen to The Herd's full show. The Plate is better than The Porch but 2 hours is too much to listen to high school football topics. And I'd rather hear Collin talk about pro sports than a local guy.

He frequently stutters, stammers, and mispronounces athletes names.He can't seem to ever get Jose Valverde's name correct, he has turned his name into Valerde. I'm sick of his constant talk about gambling on sports, which isn't even legal in Texas. Some of the language he uses may not be against FCC regulations but it is not appopriate for middle of the day air time. When he talks about the Astros, Cowboys, Mavericks, and any other pro franchise from Texas he always uses the word WE. Someone should tell Gary that until he actual makes roster on a professional team he shouldn't refer to any team as WE. I am so disgusted with Gary that I have subscribed to Sirius satellite Radio just so I don't have listen to Gary. I'm glad the Porch is ended, it was TERRBILE. It's sad that Gary's show gets air time over Colin Cowherd and the Astros. Gary should be fired immediately and 1260 should just air Cowherd in full.

Someone should tell him it's pronounced Wandy, like the word WAND with a Y on the end. Ivins pronounces it like the name Andy with a W as the first letter. I'll give him credit because he finally got Valverde's name correct today, and it only took him 3 weeks of the regular season to get it right. You know he didn't come up with the idea to call Torre overrated. In spring training he was praising Torre and now he's bashing him. Gary probably gets most of his ideas for pro sports topics from PTI and Around the Horn, because all he can come with on his own to get interviews the Lufkin High School Golf coach. What's next? High School Tennis? Who's down for some Croquet talk with the Big Nasty tommorow?

It's hard to knock a guy that can con his way into a radio show with no experience. His show is horrendous and I was only able to listen one time and I vowed I would never listen again. I listen to ESPN Radio on XM, the only time I listen 1260 is when the Astros are playing and I'm not a home to watch the game.

I gave Ivins' show a few more chances but he didn't get any better. I refuse to listen to 1260 from 11-1 when Ivins is on the air. Nasty should be greatful he has a job because he couldn't get one as an on air sports personality anyhwere else. His terrbile accent and grammar make him perfect for the station he's at because all of his callers sound just like him. Nasty is just an East Texas goat roper that the bumpkins from Lufkin think is wonderful. The people that live at Crown Colony are hilarious, they think they are big time. There is nothing big time about anything in East Texas. I feel certain that there are numerous students at the SFA school of Communication & Journalism that could do the Nasty's job much better and not sound like such an ignorant redneck. I have no idea how a guy like Nasty is on the air or how he keeps his job. The only conclusion can be that he knows the right people because he didn't get hired for his on air talent. Why does he go by the "Big Nasty" anyway? He should just use his real name like Mike Greenberg, Mike Golic, Colin Cowherd and Mike Tirico do. They are national celebrities and they use their real name. Nasty should try the Big Bumpkin, the Local Yocal, or the Big Lame-O as his new call name.

He leaves the air early for Junior College baseball yesterday but he stays on the mic when the Astros and Rangers are playing. The people at 1260 need to wake up and realize that no one wants to listen to Ivins when the Astros are playing.

The only reason he was able to get the Mike Sherman interview is because his brother is a Texas A&M Alum that called in a few favors. Ivins isn't intelligent enough and lacks the knowledge about sports to host a show longer than 2 hours. Ivins doesn't follow pro sports enough to fill 1 hour of sports talk all by himself, that's why he has to get these High School coaches in the studio. When Ivins does discuss the NFL,MLB,or the NBA he reads directly from the AP wire. The rest of his ideas are stolen from Sports Center, Around the Horn, and P.T.I. The Lufkin baseball coach should get paid because he does Ivins' job for him.

The only reason his show gets ratings and people listen to 1260 is because we have no alternative sports radio station in the Nacogdoches area. If I could pick up ESPN out of Houston or Dallas I'd never listen to 1260 again.

The truth	posted 5/12/08 3:01 PM     The answer to all those questions is NONE. The genius in charge at ESPN 1260 is committed to airing the boring Angelina baseball games. It's bad enough that Ivins shaves off an hour of Cowherd every day but this is laughable. Looks like I'll be listening to Howard Stern because I'm not listening to Junior college baseball all afternoon. We can only hope that AC loses today and their season finally ends.
