I'm just curious to see if any other racers are interested in attending a fire department race in Parish. They are a small group of decent people that may also come race with us in the future. The race is on 9/29 at 12pm. I also suggest that at some point our members should checkout the Savannah track, Grasscar is allways my first choice but if we want to keep this sport alive we will all have to try to work together and adjust rules that allow more people to participate as long as they are safe.

I am all for expanding and getting along but GRASSCAR shouldn't have to always be the club to change their rules to allow other clubs machines to race with us. In most cases our mowers don't fit into other clubs specs and we aren't allowed to race with them competitively. So in my opinion ALL the clubs should bend.

Ron, well put...would it make sense for me to ask them to come to a meeting or is this something that should start a little more informal? I think our membership is much larger than theirs.....It may be fair for them to adjust some their rules and us to also meet them some of the way. Our rules are close to theirs with these exceptions. They allow engine mods in most classes but do not allow handle bars or aluminum wheels. I suggest that we consider allowing engine mods in our super mod class and running a super mod single cylinder and a super mod twin class. I think we should run the unlimited as a novelty, since their has been very little participation. this way we do not need more trophies. I think most important...we should not allow any engine mods in the flathead or overhead classes...this will keep our members very competitive. In turn they need to consider the bars and wheels. If we made these changes I would expect at least 10 more tractors at each race in the super mod class alone. The savannah group really wants us and has an excellent track and some very good members. I hope that other grasscar members comment and that we may be able to discuss this at the next meeting.
