Ok, here's what we talked about at Thursday's Judicial committee meeting. We came up with 3 proposals for sports.1. Pay $10 if absent without replacement and team needs to forfiet as a result.2. Pay $5 for each time missed without a replacement.3. Pay $5 for 1st miss, $10 for 2nd miss, and $20 for each additional missed event without a replacement. We also need to figure out a way to enforce these options.1. Suggestion is for sports rep to pick captain to keep track of attendance, and notify sports rep of any absences. At which point sports rep will notify WKF to collect payment or place member on debt list. We realize that as of right now, there are members not from pdx playing on some sports teams. As of next year no members outside of pdx will be allowed to participate in pdx sporting events, unless they are a replacement for a pdx member unable to attend. Also, we will have a complete list available at the house of who's signed up for what team. Thoughts/ideas/concerns? Please respond! Due to the fact that bylaw revision is a time-consuming process, we are suggesting that everyone post there suggestions on the message board. We will compile a list of suggested changes and bring them to the meeting on oct. 17th. at which point we will vote. This should shorten the meeting from 18 hours to hopefully less than 2 hours. We will talk more about this at our next meeting.

I think that these are all wonderful ideas. I also hope (!!) that we don't have to get in to the discussion of money again at meetings like last year's. That was ridiculous. As for the penalties, I'm in favor of the $5, $10, $20 myself. I hope that everyone realizes that the money we pay for sports comes from us!! It's not just a matter of signing up and paying. Each sport is expensive and we waste a lot of money for no-shows that lead to forfeits. As for non-PDX'ers playing on teams next year, I also think that's a great idea, but I do think it will lead to less teams, i.e. football and soccer. I hope that we can continue to support our sports teams. It's so fun to play and get to know your brothers in athletic environment.

I really like pretty much all of your ideas Kevin, good work. The one issue I just want to address is the issue of non-PDXers playing. As Katie said it might decrease the # of teams (or the quality of those teams, at least regarding to soccer) which is just something we might want to consider. A fair amount of our soccer team was non-pdxers. I am not necessarily for or against it, although I think we might want to grandfather in those who are already playing and are non-pdxers/ex-pdxers, but maybe notify them of the penalty and hold them to paying it (if that is possible).
